Hadhrat Mufti Muhammad Taqi ‘Uthmani, may Allah protect him, writes:
Hadhrat [Maulana Rashid Ahmad] Gangohi, may Allah sanctify his secret, is the chief and leader of all our saintly elders. His whole life was a living picture of the sunnah. It was he, who - by raising the banner of Ihya-e-Sunnat (reviving the sunnah) in opposition to the innovations prevalant at the time - distinguished the maslak (way) of Deoband.
