Hadhrat Shaykh al-Hind Maulana Mahmood al-Hasan (ra) passed away on the 18th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, 1339 A.H. Describing the manner in which he left this temporary abode, ‘Allamah Shabbir Ahmad ‘Uthmani (ra) relates that
[while on his death-bed] Shaykh al-Hind (ra) opened his eyes for a while and looked up, saying, ”I regret dying on my bed. My desire was to have been on the field of Jihad against the enemy and [that] my body would be shattered in pieces.”
Thereafter, he said ”Allah, Allah” seven times. Hafiz Muhammad Ilyas (ra) [who was also present] recited Surah Yasin. When the [recitation of the] Surah was nearly complete, Hadhrat Shaykh al-Hind (ra) straightened his body himself, opened his eyes slightly and recited:
اليه ترجعون [Trans: To Him you will all be returned]
and closed his eyes forever.
