Many people may have recently noticed references to Maulana Abd as-Samee’ Rampuri and his book Anwaar-e-Saati’ah on various websites and blogs. Maulana Abd as-Samee’ Rampuri was a follower of Maulana Ahmad Reza Khan.
While reading the Malfuzat of Faqih al-Ummah Mufti Mahmud Hasan Gangohi (ra), I came across this very interesting paragraph.
Hadhrat Mufti Mahmud Hasan Gangohi (ra) once said:
Hadhrat Haji Imdadullah Muhajir Makki sahib (ra) had a mureed (spiritual disciple) named Molwi ‘Abd as-Samee’ Rampuri (ra) who believed [in the validity] of the Milad celebrations. In this regard, he had written a book, ‘Anwaar-e-Saati’ah.’
Hadhrat Mufti Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi (ra) was also a mureed and Khalifah of Hadhrat Haji sahib (ra) but was strongly opposed to the Milad celebrations etc. (due to the evils that were contained within.) He had ‘Baraheen-e-Qaati’ah’ written [by Hadhrat Maulana Khalil Ahmad Saharanpuri (ra)] in refutation of ‘Anwaar-e-Saati’ah.’ (This was a matchless answer to the evidences cited by Molwi Abd as-Samee’.) So, both had severe differences in certain Masaa’il.
Inspite of this, when Molwi ‘Abd as-Samee’ sahib came to Gangoh for a particular ceremony, he visited Hadhrat Mufti Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi (ra.) After meeting with him, Hadhrat Mufti Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi (ra) said to him, ‘I desire that you accept [an invitation] to have food at my place?” Molwi Abd as-Samee’ accepted the invitation. However, there was no discussion regarding the Differences that they had.
