Mufti Mahmud al-Hasan Gangohi رحمه الله once narrated the following story concerning the love and compassion that Hadhrat Maulana Rashid Ahmad Gangohi رحمه الله   showed  his juniors.

Hadhrat [Maulana Rashid Ahmad] Gangohi رحمه الله had a student who would also serve him. Once, he was sent somewhere and in his absence, sweetmeats (mithai) arrived from someplace [as a gift for Hadhrat.] Hadhrat distributed the sweetmeats then and there. When the student returned and found out that sweetmeats had been distributed, he became very angry , [thinking] that ‘for work, it is us and for sweetmeats, it is others.’ Just then, he heard footsteps close to his room. Then [he heard] a hand on the doorchain and someone knocked on the door. He enquired in anger, from inside the room, ”who is it?” Hadhrat answered, ”[It is] Rashid Ahmad. Here, this is your share of the sweetmeats which were distributed in your absence. You were not present, therefore I had saved your share.”

May Allah grant us such love, compassion and sense of justice with those who are considered our juniors for surely this is from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم
