Rahmat al-Quddus by ‘Allamah Zafar Ahmad al-‘Uthmani

[From among the books of Hadith translated by the ‘Ulama of Deoband is] Rahmat al-Quddus, by the renowned Hadith Scholar Shaykh Zafar Ahmad al-‘Uthmani (may Allah shower His mercy upon him). This is a translation of ‘Allamah Ibn Abi Jamarah’s Bahjat al-Nufus, a compilation of three hundred hadiths from Sahih al-Bukhari from which the author derived rules pertaining to tasawwuf. Hakim al-Ummat Shaykh Ashraf ‘Ali al-Thanawi (may Allah sanctify his secret) instructed his nephew, Shaykh Zafar Ahmad al-‘Uthmani, to translate this book into Urdu. In compliance, Shaykh Zafar Ahmad chose and translated one hundred hadiths from it. It was first published in the monthly journal Aghaz, which was published in Lahore. This was in 1958 AH. Thereafter, the owner of Idara Islamiat in Lahore arranged for its publication and named it Intikhab-e-Bukhari Sharif.[1]
